Return to nature
Human composting is an eco-friendly alternative to cremation. Over a 45-day process, a loved one is gently transformed into nutrient-rich soil.
The resulting soil can be returned to the earth. Most families use the soil to plant trees, or scatter it in meaningful locations. The remaining soil is sent to conservation land to aid reforestation projects.
A gentle, natural process
Each process takes place in an individual vessel designed especially for composting. With a little water, a little heat and the careful balancing of carbon, nitrogen and oxygen, we create the perfect conditions for naturally occurring microbes to break down the body and gently transform it into soil.
Life-giving soil
After about 45 days, the composting process is complete. Approximately a half cubic yard of nutrient-rich soil remains inside the vessel. Your family is welcome to take all of it home, but most families only take a few small containers, to scatter or plant.
Your impact
Remaining soil is sent to conservation land on the Olympic Peninsula for reforestation projects. Surrounded by Giant Maple, Red Cedar and the Olympic Mountains, we are restoring and protecting this land for future generations.
